These stunning bookends have been carved from polished black marble containing authentic fossilised Belemnites — 150 million years old — and hand-finished by expert artisans to a beautiful glossy sheen.

Belemnites were marine cephalopods related to modern squid and cuttlefish, with a distinctive bullet-shaped internal skeleton made of calcite. They thrived in shallow seas during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods before becoming extinct in the same mass extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs, 66 million years ago. During the medieval period, their bullet-shaped fossils were believed to be thunderbolts turned to stone — earning them the name "thunderstones".

Each pair is unique — no two pieces are alike — making them a genuinely one-of-a-kind addition to any home or office. Whether displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or mantelpiece, these luxury fossil bookends are as functional as they are beautiful.
