This iron meteorite fragment comes from Canyon Diablo, the impactor responsible for Meteor Crater in Arizona, which struck Earth approximately 50,000 years ago. The meteorite has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar.
Composed primarily of nickel-iron alloy with characteristic crystalline patterns, the specimen formed in the core of an ancient asteroid over 4.5 billion years ago. Its surface may show regmaglypts, shallow thumbprint-like indentations created during atmospheric entry.
Collected near the rim of Meteor Crater, the fragment has been left unpolished to preserve its natural surface. It represents both the violence of planetary impact and the deep-time origins of our solar system.
Base: Solid Oak Wood
Mount: Stainless Steel
