This fossilised bone belonged to Ursus spelaeus, the cave bear, which lived throughout Europe during the Late Pleistocene, roughly 30,000 to 50,000 years ago, displayed in a museum quality deep box frame.
Thick and heavy, the bone reflects the massive build of an animal adapted to cold climates and mountainous terrain. Its surface shows signs of long-term mineralisation, with natural texture and density preserved through burial in cave sediments.
Recovered from a cave site in Central or Eastern Europe, the specimen has been cleaned and stabilised, offering a well-preserved remnant of one of the Ice Age’s most formidable mammals.
Frame: Satin finished acrylic
Mount: 300 GSM acid free card stock & 2 mm bevelled edge matboard border
