This Gebel-Kamil meteorite has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar. The specimen is an iron meteorite that impacted the Egyptian desert approximately 5,000 years ago.
Composed primarily of nickel-iron alloy, the fragment displays a distinctive shrapnel-like texture, a result of the high-energy impact that created the nearby crater. Its surface shows natural weathering and fusion crust features from its atmospheric passage.
Recovered near the Gebel Kamil crater, this piece offers a direct connection to a meteorite fall and impact event on Earth.
