This large fossilised Iridescent Ammonite displays striking natural iridescence across its coiled shell, a result of millions of years of mineralisation under specific geological conditions. Once the shell of a marine cephalopod from the Late Cretaceous period, this specimen is now a shimmering relic of prehistoric oceans, presented on a bespoke oak stand.
The shell’s surface reveals vivid flashes of green, red, gold, and violet, caused by the presence of aragonite layers that have been preserved in remarkable condition. These colours, once hidden beneath sediment, are revealed through expert preparation, transforming the ammonite into a luminous natural object.
Rare in both size and preservation, this ammonite is not only a scientific specimen but a captivating display piece, merging ancient biology with geological artistry.
