This fossil preserves a complete specimen of Knightia Alta, a small schooling fish that lived in the freshwater lakes of what is now North America during the Eocene epoch, around 50 million years ago. Displayed in a museum quality deep box frame.
Delicately detailed, the fossil shows fine impressions of the fish’s fins, scales, and skeletal structure. Knightia was a common prey species, and its abundance makes it one of the most frequently found fossils in the Green River Formation.
Recovered from sedimentary limestone in Wyoming, the specimen has been carefully prepared to highlight its natural detail, offering a clear glimpse into the ecology of an ancient lake system.
