This jaw assembly belonged to the Mosasaurus, a marine reptile from the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 million years ago. It has been composed from multiple specimens of the same species and locality to reflect an accurate anatomical reconstruction. Displayed on a bespoke oak base stand.
The jaw features robust, conical teeth set in deep sockets, an adaptation for gripping and dispatching prey such as fish, ammonites, and other marine reptiles. The alignment and scale convey the power of a bite capable of crushing bone and shell in open ocean ambushes.
Recovered from phosphate beds in North Africa, each element has been carefully cleaned, stabilised, and arranged to preserve both structure and scientific context, a representation of one of the most effective marine predators of its time.
