This specimen is a fragment of the Muonionalusta iron meteorite, formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago and recovered from northern Sweden near the Muonio River. It has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar.
Composed primarily of nickel-iron alloy, it is renowned for its well-defined Widmanstätten patterns, crystalline structures that became visible as the metal slowly cooled in space over millions of years.
The fragment shows natural fusion crust and weathering consistent with its long terrestrial residence, offering a detailed glimpse into the cooling history of its parent asteroid.
