This Nantan meteorite has been displayed in a museum quality deep box frame. The specimen is an iron meteorite that fell in China during the late 16th century and dates back approximately 4.5 billion years.
Composed mainly of nickel-iron alloy, the fragment displays natural weathering and oxidation typical of long exposure to Earth’s environment. Its surface bears characteristic regmaglypts, thumbprint-like indentations formed during its passage through the atmosphere.
Recovered from the Nantan strewn field in Guangxi Province, the meteorite offers a tangible piece of cosmic history, representing material that originated in the core of an ancient asteroid.
