This specimen is a polished fragment of a chondrite meteorite, an ancient stony meteorite formed over 4.5 billion years ago during the early solar system. It has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar.
Unlike rough finds, this piece has undergone careful cutting and polishing to reveal its internal structure. The polishing process exposes the distinctive chondrules, mineral grains, and the matrix that binds them. These features, normally obscured beneath the rough fusion crust, become clearly visible.
The surface has been finished to a smooth, reflective sheen. This treatment allows for close examination of the meteorite’s formation and offers a visually striking display piece that balances scientific detail with aesthetic appeal.
