This Sikhote-Alin meteorite has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar. The iron meteorite fell to Siberia in 1947 and was formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago.
Composed mainly of nickel-iron alloy, the fragment shows natural fusion crust and surface features typical of its high-velocity atmospheric entry. Its distinctive pitted texture reflects the explosive breakup during its fall.
Recovered from the Sikhote-Alin strewn field, this piece offers a tangible example of a well-documented modern meteorite fall with origins tracing back to the earliest days of the solar system.
