This specimen is a stoney meteorite, recovered from the Sahara Desert and dated to approximately 4.5 billion years ago. It has been displayed in a museum quality deep box frame.
Composed primarily of silicate minerals, it belongs to the chondrite class, preserving the original structure of ancient cosmic dust and molten droplets known as chondrules. Its fusion crust consists of a thin, dark outer layer, formed as it passed through Earth’s atmosphere at high velocity.
Collected from the vast rock fields of Northwest Africa, the meteorite has been left in its natural state, with minimal cleaning, to preserve its surface features, a tangible fragment of deep space.
